Women's Weekly Birthday Cakes
I was very lucky the other day - my lovely mother gave me the new and the vintage Womens Weekly Birthday Cake books, including gems such as these:

My sister (who has two kids) makes this type of cake for anyone having a birthday. A couple of years ago I happened to be at her place for my birthday, so requested a cake. I got a pair of thongs (read flip flops outside Australia) and they were fantastic! She made a bowls green for my dad, a windmill for mum, and a belly dancer for my older sister. She has truly found her calling in life!
